Community

Where in the bible does it say the early church needed to build a building in order to have church? Where in the bible does it say the early church needed children’s church? How about AWANAS? How about a projector?

I am new in the church start stuff. We don’t have our own building, don’t have children’s church (and never will), don’t have AWANAS but we do have a projector. When I look at the early church they were so consumed with growing in Christ and each other. That is all they wanted or even knew.

I think about kids right now playing with a stick and a coconut as a toy in the jungle of Peru and how my kids want the wii, basketball, guitar, Barbie, etc. Community seemed to be at the heart of their existence. They had a great relationship with each other because of their strong relationship to God through Christ. Acts 2:44-47 is very convicting to see all they had and how satisfied they were with it.

Relationships. Community. This was a discipline of the early church. No doubt this is the key to ministry today.

Relationships, not buildings. Community, not programs.
